SB’s father has broken his spine 4 times. Until now, they have never talked about it. In an attempt to get to know her quiet mountaineer father, SB follows him on a camping trip. Together, they brave several days in the bush in winter, facing cold temperatures, 20 hours of darkness, and a generation of silence between them.
Through recorded interviews, soundscape, shadow puppetry, and non-linear storytelling, Lumbar 5, Thoracic 12 tells a Northern father-daughter story about intergenerational divides and a deep need to connect.
