How do we define Speculative Fiction?
Upintheair Theatre understands speculative fiction as “Narrative exploring real and important ideas about what is happening in the world right now, through an intelligent eye on the near future.” Concepts should be anchored in the genre, but Upintheair wishes to stretch the limits of this definition to provide support to artist(s) who comprehend the genre in a new or unique way. Some examples of wider definitions include: Science Fiction, Possible Futures, and Alternate Histories. What does Speculative Fiction mean to you?
