Curatorial Statement 2025
In a world that can feel so heavy and off balance, this community is a reminder of what’s right. Here, we celebrate, we laugh, and we cry together—holding space for one another to share our stories and be truly understood. In these moments, we remember the power of connection, of just being there for each other, and the simple truth that we’re stronger when we’re together. In 2025 we present new creations in process, translation of revered masterworks, poetical explorations, dance theatre collisions, upbeat comedy, and theatrical experiences that reveal our multitude journeys of life, the spirit to transform, delve into the physical form, question our upbringing, share identity and celebrate how we age, rebound, regrow and rejoice. We celebrate the artists, their hard work, and all of the members of their communities who make these works possible: the many friends, family members, colleagues, mentors, elders, partners, and other supporters who have accompanied, inspired and informed these performances.
Join our cohort of emerging and reemerging artists as they share their work on our changing stage. We are rEvolver.
Dave, Kelsi and Sarah (the rEvolver Festival Curatorial team)
rEvolver takes place on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples: the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. At Upintheair Theatre, we hope to contribute towards a better future on these lands through our work with emerging storytellers.
